Ken Erway has taught guitar in the Finger Lakes/Southern Tier region of New York since 1985. Ken teaches a folk/finger picking style of playing, with an emphasis on the classic songs of the 60’s and the 70’s. Included are songs by Bob Dylan, Donovan, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, The Animals, The Beatles, Willie Nelson and others. Ken also is an accomplished performer, currently playing in the groups DISTILLED and the BROTHERS GRATEFUL.
Ken also teaches FRETBOARD LOGIC by Bill Edwards. This is a system of music theory using forms specific to the unique tuning of the guitar (EADGBE) that easily connect the entire length of the fretboard in the “CAGED” system. This program applies the learned forms in FRETBOARD LOGIC books 1 and 2 towards the goal of playing lead guitar. Testimonials to the ease and value of this system may be found at billedwards.com.

The goal of this course is to aid the student in developing proper fundamentals of technique, stimulate musical growth, and aid in the development of good practice habits.
Each student is scheduled for a regular lesson time during the week; all lessons are 30 minutes in length. In order to ensure your musical development, I expect a minimum of ½ hour daily practice. Your development and growth depends on the the effort that you put into it.
If you must miss a lesson for any reason, please notify me twenty four hours in advance so an alternate lesson time can be arranged. If you do not notify me, the lesson will not be made up, and payment will be remitted for the missed lesson. If I must miss a lesson, the student will be notified and the lesson will be rescheduled at no additional cost to the student. Two (2) missed lessons in a row will result in forfeiture of weekly scheduled lesson time.
Payment for lessons is done, in advance, on a four lesson basis. This fee is non-refundable. Payments may be made by either cash or check. Call (607) 377-6292 for rates. Please make all checks payable to Ken Erway.
